Module 10 – Reflection Writing

In Module 1, the first required assignment asked you to examine the course and relate it to a current, real-world event or recent news story. Based on what you have learned in this course since Module 1, reflect on how your answers would change now that you have gained new knowledge. Return to your initial assignment and directly connect the content of your responses to the theories and material of this course. Additionally, based on what you learned in this course, provide some strategies that would address the issues described in the real-world event or recent news story you chose. For example, if you chose a recent story about how high school attendance rates have diminished in the past decade, provide several strategies for addressing that issue based on what you directly learned in this course. Submit a final assignment of 1000 words that synthesizes all these points. This was my topic in module 1After reviewing the course syllabus and reviewing the topics covered in this course, one real world event that occurred within the last 12 months that i feel relates and ties into the topics of this course deals with the interrogation and confession of an alleged murder suspect named Pedro Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez was just recently tried in court for the kidnapping and murder of 6 year old Etan Patz in New York City on May 25th 1979. The trial ended in a hung jury as there were several issues related to the confession. One of the issues was that when the police obtained the confession for the murder, Mr. Hernandez was never read his Miranda warnings until approximately two hours after the confession was obtained. His lawyer argued that his client who was a diagnosed schizophrenic, with an IQ level of 70 was not and could not been aware of his legal right to remain silent. After reviewing the topics related to this course, the topic of The Admissible confession: The protection against false confession relates to this topic. One of the issues related to the case was that there was no evidence linking Mr. Hernandez to the disappearance and murder of the child as the body was never recovered. It is noted in the readings that the confession must be corroborated by physical evidence which in this case there was none.Fowler, 2015.http://www.people.com/article/etan-patz-murder-trial-could-confessed-killer-pedro-hernandez-go-freeGeneral Paper Requirements: • Paper will need to include an APA cover page. • Paper will need to include a 100 to 150 word abstract. • Paper will need to be a minimum of 4 pages not including the cover page, abstract, and reference page (It is normal to have approximately 250 words per page). • Paper will need to be supported with a minimum of three academic resources “1” source can include the textbook. Note If new lessons are going to be remembered and bring long-term value, effort must be taken to reflect on the experiences one has had, evaluate them in terms of whether they were positive or not, consider what one might do to alter future activities and behaviors as a result, and do concrete things to bring about real change. Reflection and feedback are two powerful tools to accomplish this and one’s portfolio is a concrete mechanism one can use to leverage past experiences moving forward. Goals After completing a course, the goals for last week’s tasks are to: • Reflect on the course and assignments submitted by distinguishing which topics have the greatest application for you as you advance in your program and career goals. • Identify key ideas or assignments that could be shared or saved in a portfolio or personal folder demonstrating your advancing skill level and areas of expertise. • Provide feedback to Aspen University about the course and its instructor for improvement purposes. Overview In this module, students will have opportunity to reflect on learning and skills gain from this class in the areas of networks and telecommunications. This is important because if new lessons are going to be remembered and bring long-term value, effort must be taken to reflect on the experiences one has had, evaluate them in terms of whether they were positive or not, consider what one might do to alter future activities and behaviors as a result, and do concrete things to bring about real change.
