How is the topic defined or conceptualized?

You will use the information you have gathered and the insight you have gained from Impact Assignment: Part 1 to develop a PowerPoint Presentation of at least 15 slides, including a title slide and a reference slide. Do not exceed 16 slides of content. This presentation must be created as if you are presenting information to a group of clients regarding the impact your topic has on development. Assume that they are unfamiliar with your topic and are seeking your help understanding the impact this topic has on them or their family members.
You must use your textbook and the sources you used in Part 1; however, you can also use other relevant sources of information to develop your PowerPoint Presentation. Include appropriate citations to your sources at the bottom of each slide.
Your presentation must include these slides:
Title slide (Slide 1)
Introduction
·         How is the topic defined or conceptualized? (Slide 2)
Developmental Impact slides
·         At what age and stage does this issue typically impact a person?  (Slide 3)
·         What is its potential impact on a person’s development progress? (Slide 4)
·         What is the impact to cognitive, social, emotional, relationship, and/or moral dimensions of development? (Slides 5–6)
Client Awareness:
·         How does this topic impact the individual’s environment? (Slide 7)
·         How does this topic impact the individual’s family? (Slide 8)
·         What are the best strategies for dealing with this from an individual or family support perspective?  (Slides 9–10)
Faith & Professional Perspectives
·         Are there Christian principles or biblical themes that provide explanation or clarification you want to include? (Slide 11)
·         What can clients expect you to be able to do to help them (you, as a human service professional, or your agency)? (Slide 12)
Resources – Educational readings (These can be the same ones used in Part 1.)
·         Provide 2 suggestions of educational readings that you might suggest if a client was impacted by your topic. What reading materials would be most beneficial and appropriate for your clients? You must research literature, read reviews and excerpts, and become knowledgable and comfortable with the content of the materials. Then, make 2 suggestions of the best information you found and would be comfortable recommending to clients. Provide the title, a link to the source, and a 1-paragraph explanation of the content. (Slide 13)
Resources – Referral sources
·         Provide 2 referral sources that you could recommend to clients. Research providers in your local area that offer services and care related to your impact topic. Provide a web link to the agency or organization. Under the link, provide a 1-paragraph explanation of services they provide that are related to your topic and why you would recommend it. (Slide 14)
References
Provide a complete list of references in current APA format that you used to inform your presentation. A minimum of 4 are required. (Slide 15)
Writing Guidelines:
Include speaking notes for Slides 2–12. Speaking notes are text notes that only the presenter sees during the presentation. You can add these to your presentation by clicking on “click to add notes” at the bottom of each slide when you are viewing it to edit or develop it further. When presenting a PowerPoint presentation, you only need to include the most relevant information on your slides. However, sometimes you may want to speak about those relevant points in more detail. Including speaking notes allows you to view extended details while presenting and go beyond just reading from your slides. This is a “best practice” for professional presentations, which is why they must be included in your assignment.
In your presentation, do not write in paragraph form, but rather you must use headings, complete statements, and bullet points to organize your slide content. Use an attractive, professional background. You may use images, but do not let them overwhelm your slides. Avoid flashing transitions. Use consistent language appropriate for your client audience as well as consistent fonts, colors, and writing styles.

Until recently, the risk of criminal prosecution for nursing practice was nonexistent unless nursing action rose to the level of criminal intent, such as the case of euthanasia leading to murder charges. However, in April 1997, three nurses at the Centura St. Anthony Hospital, outside of Denver, were indicted by a Colorado grand jury for criminally negligent homicide in the death of a newborn. Public records show that one nurse was assigned to care for the baby. A second nurse offered to assist her colleague in caring for the baby. A third nurse was a nurse practitioner in the hospital nursery. Because the baby was at risk for congenital syphilis, the physician ordered that the nurses give 150,000 units of intramuscular penicillin, which would have required five separate injections.
In relation to other problems the same day, the baby was subjected to a lumbar puncture, which required six painful attempts. To avoid inflicting further pain, nurse two asked the nurse practitioner whether there was another route available for the administration of the penicillin. Nurse two and the nurse practitioner searched recognized pharmacology references and determined that intravenous administration would be acceptable. The nurse practitioner had the authority to change the route and directed nurse two to administer the medication intravenously rather than intramuscularly. Unrecognized by the nurses, the pharmacy erroneously delivered the medication, prepared and ready to administer, in a dose ten times greater than was ordered—1.5 million units. As nurse two was administering the medication intravenously, the baby died. The Colorado Board of Nursing initiated disciplinary proceedings against nurse two and the nurse practitioner, but not against nurse one. The grand jury indicted all three nurses on charges of criminally negligent homicide but did not indict the pharmacist (Calfee & Plum, 1997).

Respiratory Alterations | Nursing School Essays

Respiratory Alterations
In clinical settings, patients often present with various respiratory symptoms such as congestion, coughing, and wheezing. While identifying a symptom’s underlying illness can be challenging, it is essential because even basic symptoms such as persistent coughing can be a sign of a more severe disorder. Advanced practice nurses must be able to differentiate between moderate and severe respiratory disorders, as well as properly diagnose and prescribe treatment for their patients. For this reason, you must have an understanding of the pathophysiology of respiratory disorders.
Consider the following three scenarios:
Scenario 1:
Ms. Teel brings in her 7-month-old infant for evaluation. She is afraid that the baby might have respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) because she seems to be coughing a lot, and Ms. Teel heard that RSV is a common condition for infants. A detailed patient history reveals that the infant has been coughing consistently for several months. It’s never seemed all that bad. Ms. Teel thought it was just a normal thing, but then she read about RSV. Closer evaluation indicates that the infant coughs mostly at night; and, in fact, most nights the baby coughs to some extent. Additionally, Ms. Teel confirms that the infant seems to cough more when she cries. Physical examination reveals an apparently healthy age- and weight-appropriate, 7-month-old infant with breath sounds that are clear to auscultation. The infant’s medical history is significant only for eczema that was actually quite bad a few months back. Otherwise, the only remarkable history is an allergic reaction to amoxicillin that she experienced 3 months ago when she had an ear infection.
Scenario 2:
Kevin is a 6-year-old boy who is brought in for evaluation by his parents. The parents are concerned that he has a really deep cough that he just can’t seem to get over. The history reveals that he was in his usual state of good health until approximately 1 week ago when he developed a profound cough. His parents say that it is deep and sounds like he is barking. He coughs so hard that sometimes he actually vomits. The cough is productive for mucus, but there is no blood in it. Kevin has had a low-grade temperature but nothing really high. His parents do not have a thermometer and don’t know for sure how high it got. His past medical history is negative. He has never had childhood asthma or RSV. His mother says that they moved around a lot in his first 2 years and she is not sure that his immunizations are up to date. She does not have a current vaccination record.
Scenario 3:
Maria is a 36-year-old who presents for evaluation of a cough. She is normally a healthy young lady with no significant medical history. She takes no medications and does not smoke. She reports that she was in her usual state of good health until approximately 3 weeks ago when she developed a “really bad cold.” The cold is characterized by a profound, deep, mucus-producing cough. She denies any rhinorrhea or rhinitis—the primary problem is the cough. She develops these coughing fits that are prolonged, very deep, and productive of a lot of green sputum. She hasn’t had any fever but does have a scratchy throat. Maria has tried over-the-counter cough medicines but has not had much relief. The cough keeps her awake at night and sometimes gets so bad that she gags and dry heaves.
To Prepare
– Review the three scenarios, as well as Chapter 27 and Chapter 28 in the Huether and McCance text.
– Select one of the scenarios and consider the respiratory disorder and underlying alteration associated with the type of cough described.
– Identify the pathophysiology of the alteration that you associated with the cough.
– Select two of the following factors: genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, or behavior. Reflect on how the factors you selected might impact the disorder.
Post a description of the disorder and underlying respiratory alteration associated with the type of cough in your selected scenario. Then, explain the pathophysiology of the respiratory alteration. Finally, explain how the factors you selected might impact the disorder.

The Role of the Community and Public Health Nurse This week, your Instructor assigned you a chapter in the course textbook that discussed the role of the public health nurse in a specific setting. Based on your assigned chapter and bearing in mind the primary prevention focus of the community/public health nurse, respond to the following: What differentiates the role of the community and public health nurse from other health professionals? What skills and knowledge are necessary for the type of decision making inherent in population-focused nursing practice? How do these skills differ from those required in the institutional setting? Support your response with references from the professional nursing literature. Post your response to this Discussion byDay 3. Respond to at leasttwocolleagues’ postings byDay 7. See the Week 1 Discussion area for details. Application The History of Public Health and the Role of the Community/Public Health Nurse Using Chapter 2 in the course textbook, your assigned reading on the role of the nurse in a specific public health setting, and reviewing this week’s media presentation, address the following in a 2- to 3-page paper: Trace the history of the public health nurse including the contributions made by Lillian Wald and the Henry Street Settlement. Also, summarize the role of the nurse in the practice setting assigned. Include the following in your summary: Explain how the core functions of community/public health nursing and the standards of practice are met with that specific role. Describe the population served by the nurse in this role. Which interventions might the nurse in this role utilize? Explain the level of practice used in this practice setting (primary/secondary/tertiary). Describe an ethical dilemma that might be encountered in this nursing role. Use the Application Rubric in the Course Info area on the left navigation bar to develop this paper. Due byDay 7. Virtual Practicum Team Discussion Practicum Activities: Identify a Population Group Community health nursing needs to be not only on the individual, but also the family and the community. This activity is intended to teach you how the term community health is about identifying problems and managing interactions within the community. In meeting multiple needs, community health nurses are required to fulfill multiple roles. These roles include care provider, educator, advocate, manager, collaborator, leader and researcher. This week, your instructor has assigned you to choose a population group that you will write about for the next six weeks. Community health nursing settings include homes, ambulatory care settings, schools, occupational heath settings, residential institutions, and the community at large. Knowing about these settings may assist you in choosing your population group. Read more about populations in your textbook. Please address the following: Introduce yourself to your team members. Where do you work? Briefly describe the community where you live. For the purpose of the Population-Based Nursing Care Project, choose a population group that interests you. Describe what the members of your chosen group have in common? For example, do they share some important features in their lives? What are some health problems or issues that you can think of that may affect the population that you are interested in?. Post your response to this Discussion byDay 5. Respond to at leasttwocolleagues’ postings byDay 7. See the Week 6 Practicum Discussion area for details.

Examining Three Models of Psychopathology

Unit 3 Assignment & Discussion 1? $40.00 Due (Friday) 4/20/2018.
Unit 3 Assignment 1
Diagnostic Approaches
For this assignment, consider the following case vignette:
Annie is a 13-year-old Asian American girl; the youngest child in a family of four older siblings. Her parents are both high school teachers and came to United States from India to attend college and stayed to raise a family together. They travel as a family to India several weeks of every year to be with extended family. Annie understands some phrases in the dialect spoken by her extended family, but she and her sisters consistently speak to their parents in English. When Annie was 5 years old, she was hospitalized for three weeks for a serious illness. Since that time, she has been in good health, but has struggled with her fears and anxiety.
Annie is extremely shy and avoids situations in which she needs to interact with new people or large groups. She worries about making mistakes in her schoolwork and becomes extremely anxious when taking tests. Sometimes, she becomes so nervous that her heart races; she begins to tremble and has difficulty breathing. Annie is also afraid of the dark and does not want to be alone in her room at night. She often requires the presence of one of her parents or older sisters until she falls asleep. As her oldest three sisters have left home to pursue their education and careers, the family is finding Annie’s need for reassurance more burdensome.
Instructions
Download Unit 3 Assignment Template. Use it to complete your assignment.
Part I: Examining Three Models of Psychopathology
• Review each of the three models of abnormality—biological, psychological, and sociocultural—and apply key principles from each model to frame what is happening to Annie and her family.
• Analyze how each model explains the factors leading to Annie’s presenting behaviors.
Part II: Assessment Instruments to Aid in Diagnosis
Formulate a culturally sensitive assessment strategy using a combination of at least two measures listed below (and linked in Resources) to assist with the assessment of Annie and her family. Describe how the assessments will be administered and interpreted using scholarly sources to support the strategy.
Unit 3 Discussion 1
Depressive Disorder Diagnosis and Assessment
Read the following vignette, keeping in mind the importance of knowing symptoms, and their duration and severity:
Christina is a 25-year-old Mexican American woman who has been working as an elementary school teacher since she graduated from college three years ago. Although she does well at her job, she has been feeling low ever since she left college. When she took this teaching position, she had to relocate to a city over four hours away from her family and the house she grew up in. Even though she has made some new friends, Christina still feels disconnected and lonely. She is also concerned about her mother, who has been diagnosed with a serious health condition.
For the past month, Christina has felt much worse. She reports feeling very sad and tired most of the time and is having difficulty concentrating at work. She says that she does not have enough energy to accomplish the things she would like to do. She admits to overeating to “unwind” after school, and is concerned she is sleeping too much on the weekends. She also has very low self-esteem, despite being well-liked at her school and receiving good performance evaluations.
Christina describes her life as “heading nowhere” and says that lately she has felt extremely hopeless. She wonders if she will ever feel as happy as she did when she was in college. She does not have a history of ever feeling worse than this, and is in good health.
Based on the information presented, address the following questions in your discussion post using headings to match content in each bullet point:
1. What depressive disorder diagnosis would you consider assigning to Christina?
Describe the process you used for making this decision, including your use of the “Differential Diagnosis by the Trees” from the DSM-5 Handbook of Differential Diagnosis (linked in Resources).
2.  Describe how the Beck Depression Inventory-II would aid in making a diagnosis for this client. (See page 63 of Abnormal Psychology).
3. What V and Z codes would you consider for Christina? How would including these systemic considerations help you understand Christina’s presenting symptoms and consider your treatment approach?
Support your ideas with references to the course texts, articles from this learning unit, articles from the optional resources on the course syllabus, or articles from peer-reviewed journals that you locate in the Capella University Library.

Describe the approaches you would use to ensure that all aspects of patient care were considered when developing a CDS system.
Imagine that you have been appointed as director of clinical decision support at a healthcare delivery system. This healthcare system consists of several large hospitals and multiple outpatient clinics and uses the same EHR system across the enterprise.
There has been limited CDS activity at the institution prior to your arrival. Now, with Meaningful Use and the increasing need to provide increased care value, the appropriate use of CDS is an institutional priority. The current CDS available at your institution consists primarily of off-the-shelf drug interaction and drug–allergy alerting, which is the source of significant clinician complaints due to the rate of false-positive alerts.
There is a strong sense within the institution’s administration that IT in general and CDS specifically should be leveraged to improve care value and to enable the institution to influence its clinical practice patterns more systematically and more rapidly. You have a reasonable budget and adequate staff to make meaningful changes. You also have support from key institutional stakeholders, including healthcare system executives, the nursing informatics officer, and the chief medical informatics officer. You have been asked to devise a strategic plan for CDS at your institution within 3 months of your arrival and to have concrete “wins” within.
In your response, please include the following information:
Describe the approaches you would use to ensure that all aspects of patient care were considered when developing a CDS system. How would you prioritize the efforts of your CDS team?Potential areas on which to focus include areas in which payment rates are tied to national quality measures, CDS interventions that meet Meaningful Use requirements, readmissions for congestive heart failure and other care events for which payers increasingly are not reimbursing, and areas that have been identified as institutional priorities for clinical improvement.
